Germany, Luftwaffe. A Mint Observer’s Badge, by Gebrüder Wegerhoff
(Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a narrow barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Gebrüder Wegerhoff, Lüdenscheid, measuring 52.54 mm (w) x 52.74 mm (h), weighing 44.4 grams, a rare and striking example of a badge retaining all of its original frosted finish and demonstrating no wear or damage, impossible to upgrade and in mint condition.
