Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pilot’s Badge, by Berg & Bolte
(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of nickel-silver and tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible replacement rivers securing the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Berg & Nolte, Lüdenscheid, measuring 65.14 mm (w) x 53.31 mm (h), weighing 46.1 grams, with loss of finish visible to the base metal of the wreath in addition to the substitute rivets, in very fine condition.
