Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pilot’s Badge, by Brüder Schneider
(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible mushroom-style rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Brüder Schneider, Vienna, measuring 66.40 mm (w) x 53.35 mm (h), weighing 33.0 grams, the tip of the eagle’s left wing shows damage of unknown origin and some loss of silver finish is evident to the wreath, in very fine condition.
