Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Brüder Schneider, Vienna, measuring 65.95 mm (w) x 53.25 mm (h), weighing 32.0 grams, demonstrating loss of finish throughout, a Type 5a round catch variant in better than very fine condition.
