Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pilot’s Badge, by Friedrich Linden
(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of silvered and patinated zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 64.19 mm (w) x 53.02 mm (h), weighing 35.7 grams, with minor loss of finish evident, in near extremely fine condition.
