Germany, Luftwaffe. A Radio Operator and Air Gunner Badge, by C.E. Juncker
(Fliegerschützenabzeichen für Bordfunker). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a Luftwaffe eagle in mid-flight clutching dual lightning bolts, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “C.E. JUNCKER, BERLIN”, measuring 42.21 mm (w) x 52.32 mm (h), weighing 36.9 grams, the obverse swastika formerly joined together the bottom of the wreath has been ground out to allow for postwar wear by the recipient, in very fine condition.
