Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a mobile swastika, overlaid by a diving Luftwaffe eagle clutching dual lightning bolts, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “C.E. JUNCKER, BERLIN”, with an additional illegible etched owner’s name situation at the o’clock position of the reverse of the wreath, measuring 43.88 mm (w) x 51.10 mm (h), weighing 36.7 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux blue leather exterior linder, the lid bearing a gilt inscription of “BORDFUNKERABZ.”, the interior with a padded purple satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue felt medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 68 mm (w) x 75 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
