Germany, Luftwaffe. A Rare Air-to-Ground Support Clasp, Gold Grade, by G.H. Osang
(Frontflugspange für Schlachtflieger in Gold). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a central circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a swastika, surrounding a pair of magnetic metal crossed swords against a hollow void, flanked on each side by nine oak leaves, the reverse with a single visible rivet securing the swords in place, with a barrel hinge and banjo-style horizontal pinback meeting a flat wire catch, correctly maker marked “G.H. OSANG, DRESDEN”, measuring 77.33 mm (w) x 26.30 mm (h), weighing 18.7 grams. Demonstrating moderate loss of finish throughout, a very scarce award in near extremely fine condition.
