Germany, Luftwaffe. A Reconnaissance Clasp, Silver Grade, by Brüder Schneider
(Frontflugspange für Aufklärer in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a central circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, surrounding a central patinated bronze eagle’s head, flanked on each side by nine oak leaves, the reverse with a single visible rivet securing the eagle’s head in place, with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, marked with a partially-legible logo of Brüder Schneider, Vienna, measuring 75.90 mm (w) x 25.33 mm (h), weighing 17.3 grams, with some loss of finish evident, in near extremely fine condition.
