Germany, Luftwaffe. A Reconnaissance Squadron Clasp with Hanger, Gold Grade, by Imme & Sohn
(Frontflugspange für Aufklärer in Gold mit Anhänger). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel wreath, joined together at the bottom by a swastika, overlaid by a leftward-facing eagle’s head, flanked on each side by nine oak leaves, with dual loops accommodating a hanger bearing a central radiant star flanked by laurel leaves, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, with a single visible rivet securing the obverse eagle in place, the reverse maker marked “IMME”, measuring 76.33 mm (w) x 25.37 mm (h), weighing 21.3 grams, most of the gilt finish has been lost, in overall better than very fine condition.
