Germany, Luftwaffe. A Short-Range Day Fighter Clasp, Gold Grade, by G.H. Osang
(Frontflugspange für Jäger in Gold). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a central circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a swastika, around a blackened magnetic metal winged arrow, flanked on each side by nine oak leaves, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “G.H. OSANG, DRESDEN”, measuring 76.77 mm (w) x 25.96 mm (h), weighing 16.9 grams, demonstrating near total loss of finish with only trace amounts of gilt evident, in very fine condition.
