Germany, NSFK. A Rare Motor Pilot’s Badge, Type III
(NSFK Flugzeugführerabzeichen für Motorflugzeugen). Instituted 1 May 1939 by Korpsführer Friedrich Christiansen. (1943-1945 issue). A rare National Socialist Flyers Corps (NSFK) Motor Pilot’s Badge, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, topped by a NSKK insignia consisting of a stylized depiction of Icarus overlaid by a mobile swastika, with a German national eagle in mid-flight set across the wreath over a hollow background, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, stamped on the reverse with a patent mark of “GM NO 111241”, measuring 52.36 mm (w) x 54.90 mm (h), weighing 21.9 grams, most of the original finish has been lost but the badge displays no other faults or damage, a scarce decoration in near extremely fine condition.
