Germany, Luftwaffe. A Cased Flak Badge by Steinhauer & Lück - Round Catch Plate Version
(Luftwaffe Flakabzeichen). Constructed of feinzink in the shape of a wreath consisting of oak leaves, with a Luftwaffe eagle on the on the top of the badge clutching a swastika, and a Flak 88 facing towards the top right, with the barrel extending past the badge; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, barrel hinge, and a flat catch on a round catch plate; unmarked, but depicting the typical manufacturing characteristics of Steinhauer & Lück manufacture; measuring 44.82 mm (w) x 64.60 mm (h); weighing 30.4 grams. Accompanied by its presentation case of issue, constructed of heavy cardstock, with a lightly textured faux leather (leatherette) exterior; with a severed leatherette hinge; measuring 68 mm (w) x 82 mm (h); the case shows obvious signs of wear, including some of the outer flaps of the lid having come partially separated from the case, and the hinge being severed, but the badge in overall very fine condition.
