Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Badge, by Friedrich Linden
(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). Constructed of silvered and gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a diving Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but demonstrating the physical characteristics of manufacture by Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 43.36 mm (w) x 53.30 mm (h), weighing 34.5 grams, most of the silver finish has been lost, a large collection of solder from previous repair is visible between the lower rivet and the eagle’s head, and the pin and catch have been replaced and repaired, in overall very fine condition.
