Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Badge, by Gebrüder Wegerhoff
(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). Constructed of brass and zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath with a patinated finish, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a diving German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible sunken rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flattened integral catch, maker marked with the logo of Gebrüder Wegerhoff, Lüdenscheid, also bearing an etched and partially-legible recipient’s name, measuring 42.08 mm (w) x 53.12 mm (h), weighing 30.5 grams, demonstrating minor oxidation and loss of finish, a type “A” variation in extremely fine condition.
