Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Badge, Type A with Case, by G.H. Osang
(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen mit Etui). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a gilded diving Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a soldered barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a soldered flat wire catch, maker marked “G.H. OSANG, DRESDEN”, measuring 42.47 mm (w) x 52.92 mm (h), weighing 31.6 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux blue leather exterior liner, the exterior of the lid bearing a silvered inscription of “FALLSCHIRMSCHÜTZEN-ABZEICHEN”, the interior with a blue felt lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue felt medal bed, opening with a functional spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 74 mm (w) x 80 mm (l) x 26 mm (h), the badge has lost most of its gilt and silver finish and there is some material fatigue evident to the case, in overall better than very fine condition.
