Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a diving Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, maker marked “IMME & SOHN, BERLIN”, measuring 41.75 mm (w) x 52.36 mm (h), weighing 38.9 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of heavy card stock, the exterior lid with a gold embossed inscription of “FALLSCHIRMSCHÜTZEN-ABZEICHEN”, the interior with a blue satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 74 mm (w) x 80 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), minor loss of finish and material evident to the badge and case, respectively, in overall near extremely fine condition.
