Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Badge, with Case, by Wilhelm Deumer

(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen mit Etui). Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a gilt diving Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “W. DEUMER, LÜDENSCHEID”, measuring 42.84 mm (w) x 52.90 mm (h), weighing 38.6 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a heavy card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the exterior lid bearing a gilt inscription of “FALLSCHIRMSCHÜTZEN”, the interior with a padded blue satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue velvet medal base, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 78 mm (w) x 80 mm (l) x 26 mm (h), loss of finish is evident to the wreath of the badge, in overall near extremely fine condition.
