Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pilot’s Badge, by Friedrich Linden
(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of nickel-silver, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a block hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 64.28 mm (w) (inclusive of wingspan) x 53.19 mm (h), weighing 44.4 grams, in extremely fine condition.
