Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a mobile swastika, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching dual lightning bolts in its talons, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the eagle in place, with an elongated barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “W. DEUMER, LÜDENSCHEID”, measuring 43.90 mm (w) x 53.44 mm (h), weighing 32.6 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame, the exterior with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt inscription of “BORDUNKERABZ. FLIEGER-SCHÜTZENABZ.”, the interior with a padded purple satin lid liner, with a slotted blue felt medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 76 mm (w) x 76 mm (l) x 28 mm (h), material fatigue is evident to the interior and exterior of the case and includes partial lid liner detachment, the badge is unblemished and in an extremely fine condition.
