Germany, Luftwaffe. A Radio Operator and Air Gunner Badge, by Wilhelm Deumer
(Fliegerschützenabzeichen für Bordfunker). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a pair of lightning bolts, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with an elongated barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “W. DEUMER, LÜDENSCHEID”, measuring 47.76 mm (w) x 53.54 mm (h), weighing 32.1 grams, in near mint condition.
