Germany. A Luftwaffe Pilot’s Badge by C. E. Juncker of Berlin with Case
A fine early quality textbook example of a “Pilotenabzeichen”; two-piece construction; silvered tombac oval wreath with laurel leaves towards the left side side, and oak leaves towards the right side of the wreath, separated by three small ribbon-like loops on the bottom, with a large patinated eagle with spread-out wings superimposed on the badge, clutching a swastika in its talons; two rivets on the reverse; vertical needle style pinback with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch; maker marked “C. E. Juncker, Berlin S. W.” on the reverse; slightly vaulted; measuring 64.80 mm (w) x 53.35 mm (h); weighing 32.6 grams. Accompanied by its case of issue; constructed of heavy cardstock; with a blue faux leather (leatherette) exterior; functional spring catch with stud release; severed interior hinge cover but with a functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 81 mm (w) x 80 mm (h); the badge in overall near extremely fine condition, the case in better than fine condition.
