(Luftwaffe Pilotenabzeichen). Two-piece construction; silvered tombac oval wreath with laurel leaves towards the left side side, and oak leaves towards the right side of the wreath, separated by three small ribbon-like loops on the bottom, with a large patinated eagle with spread-out wings superimposed on the badge, clutching a swastika in its talons; two rivets on the reverse; vertical needle style pinback with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch; measuring 65.08 mm (w) x 53.37 mm (h); weighing 45.6 grams. Accompanied by its presentation case of issue; constructed of cardstock, with a blue lightly textured faux leather (leatherette) exterior; the exterior of the lid embossed “Luftwaffen Flugzeugführerabz.” in golden gothic lettering; with a lined interior lid, a slotted medal base, an intact interior fabric hinge cover, a functional push button release, as well as a functional exterior metal hinge; in overall near extremely fine condition.
