Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pilot’s Badge, by Gebrüder Wegerhoff
(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laure and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping patinated Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, marked with the logo of Gebrüder Wegerhoff, Lüdenscheid, measuring 63.28 mm (w) x 52.18 mm (h), weighing 42.2 grams, in extremely fine condition.
