Constructed of silvered and patinated tombac; the obverse consisting of an oval oak and laurel wreath, separated by three small ribbon-like loops on the bottom, with a large patinated eagle with spread-out wings superimposed on the badge, clutching a swastika in its talons; two rivets on the reverse; vertical needle style pinback with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch; maker marked “GWL” for “Gebrüder Wegerhoff, Lüdenscheid” on the reverse; measuring 63.31 mm (w) x 52.84 mm (h); weighing 49.4 grams. Accompanied by a presentation case; constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a dark blue faux leather (leatherette) exterior; the exterior of the lid embossed “Luftwaffe Flugzeugführerabziechen” in gold lettering; lined interior lid, a recessed medal bed, a severed interior fabric hinge cover, a functional spring catch with stud release, and a functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 81 mm (w) x 81 mm (h); in absolutely mint condition.
