(Pilotenabzeichen). Of two-piece construction; silvered tombac oval wreath with laurel leaves towards the left side side, and oak leaves towards the right side of the wreath, separated by three small ribbon-like loops on the bottom, with a large patinated eagle with spread-out wings superimposed on the badge, clutching a swastika in its talons; two rivets on the reverse; vertical needle style pinback with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch; measuring 66.48 mm (w) x 52.73 mm (h); slightly vaulted; maker marked “C. E. Juncker, Berlin S. W.” on the reverse - depicting the manufacturing characteristics of the J-2 type; weighing 46.1 grams; in better than extremely fine condition.
