Germany, Luftwaffe. An Early Radio Operator Badge, by C.E. Juncker
(Bordfunkerabzeichen). Constructed of silvered and patinated tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a mobile swastika, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching dual lightning bolts, the reverse with two visible rivets holding the eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and round wire catch, maker marked “CEJ” for C.E. Juncker, Berlin, measuring 40.85 mm (w) x 52.22 mm (h), weighing 24.2 grams, missing its pinback, a “narrow wreath” variant in very fine condition.
