Germany, NSFK. A Motor Pilot Badge; Type II
This is a scarce and well preserved example of a NSFK (National Socialist Flyer’s Corps/Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps) Motor Pilot Badge; Type II; an oval shaped badge in silvered tombac; the obverse consisting of an oak wreath tied together at the bottom, with a two-seater plane superimposed on the badge, and a winged man (Icarus) in flight, with a mobile swastika superimposed on his legs and a banner above with “NSFK” in recessed lettering; the reverse with a horizontal tapered pin and a functional hinge/catch assembly; marked “Ges. Gesch”, and with the patent number “22639” on the reverse; measuring 49.62 mm x 57.58 mm; weighing 16.8 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
