Germany, Luftwaffe. A 1942 Honour Plaque to Oberstleutnant Kurt Nabakowski
(Luftwaffe Ehrenplakette). Constructed of polished silvered bronze, the obverse bearing an etched dedication of “OBERSTLEUTNANT NABAKOWSKI”, above inscriptions of “FÜR HERVORRAGENDE LEISTUNG IM KRIEGSJAHR 1942” (“FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN THE WAR YEAR 1942”) and “DER KOMMANDIERENDE GENERAL UND BEFEHLSHABER IM LUFTGAU XI” (“THE GENERAL AND SUPREME COMMANDER OF AIR DISTRICT XI”), topped by a raised Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a suspension loop, measuring 132 mm (w) x 172 mm (h), some loosening of the eagle and loss of finish evident, in overall very fine condition.
