Germany, Luftwaffe. A Luftgau XI Honour Plaque to Martha Thomas
(Ehrenschild des Luftgaues XI). Constructed of bronzed feinzink, the obverse bearing a dedication to “STABSHELFERIN MARTHA THOMAS”, above engraved inscriptions of “FÜR HERVORRAGENDE LEISTUNG” (“FOR EXCEPTIONAL MERIT”) and “DER KOMMANDIERENDE GENERAL UND BEFEHLSHABER IM LUFTGAU XI” (“THE COMMANDING GENERAL AND SUPREME COMMANDER OF LUFTGAU XI”), topped by a raised Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with an engraved signature of General Ludwig Wolf, the reverse with two visible clips, unmarked, measuring 110 mm (w) x 150 mm (h), some loss of finish evident, in overall very fine condition.
