Germany, Luftwaffe. An Honour Shield of Luftgau XI to Major Peter Schütt
(Ehrenschild des Luftgaues XI). Constructed of a grey zink alloy, the obverse rivets with a raised and silvered Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, situated above an engraved dedication reading “MAJOR PETER SCHÜTT - FÜR HERVORRAGENDE LEITUNG DER KOMMANDIERENDE GENERAL UND BEFEHLSHABER IM LUFTGAU XI” (“MAJOR PETER SCHÜTT - FOR OUTSTANDING MERIT FROM THE COMMANDING GENERAL AND SUPREME COMMANDER IN LUFTGAU XI”), closing with the engraved signature of General der Flieger Ludwig Wolff, the reverse retaining one of two rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, topped by a suspension loop, unmarked, measuring 13 cm (w) x 17 cm (h), demonstrating minor loss of finish in addition to the missing rivet, in very fine condition.
