A Scarce German Eagle Order; Grand Cross with Award Document; Grand Cross set of insignia, comprising: Cross, in silver gilt and enamels, 60mm, ring marked “800”, in virtually mint condition; Star, in silver gilt and enamels, 80mm, pin marked “900”, no chipping to enamels, in near mint condition; with full length of sash (100 mm wide); contained within fitted case of issue, inside of the lid with golden imprinted letters “Grosskreuz des Ordens vom Deutschen Adler”, while top of the lid displays golden imprinted National eagle (case in better then very fine condition with only light scuffing). Although unmarked, this set is of textbook Godet, Berlin manufacture, of excellent quality and condition. This superb set comes with original award document, named to well known Italian Air Force General Eraldo Ilari, dated 27 June 1939, and with facsimile of A. Hitler, von Ribbentrop, and another signature; in very slightly soiled condition, but not folded, overall extremely fine.
