Germany. A 5th Class German Eagle Order with Swords by the Gebrüder Godet & Co., Cased
(Deutscher Adlerorden V. Klasse mit Schwertern). Of multi-piece construction; a Maltese cross in silver gilt and white enameled arms, with partially enameled “Hoheitszeichen” between the arms of the cross; the obverse with gilt crossed swords attached to the cross; the reverse fully enameled; on a loop for suspension, marked “21” for “Gebrüder Godet & Co., Berlin”; suspended from a period original ribbon with a horizontal pinback; measuring 45.05 mm (w) x 45.19 mm (h); weighing 24.2 grams. Accompanied by its presentation case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed cardstock, with a red faux leather (leatherette) exterior; with a national eagle embossed in gilt on the lid, with a lined interior lid, embossed “Deutscher Adlerorden V. Klasse mit Schwertern” in golden lettering, a recessed medal bed, with a functional clasp closure and a functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 72 mm (w) x 124 mm (h); the case slightly damaged - one of the sides has come loose; in overall better than extremely fine condition.
