Germany. A Mint and Unissued Order of the German Eagle; Bronze Merit Medal with Swords
An example of a mint and unissued “Deutsche Bronzene Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern” in its original packet of issue by the official Vienna Mint; a bronze medal depicting the outline of the Order of the German Eagle; the reverse inscribed “Deutsche Verdienstmedaille” in block letters; with swords attached to the top of the medal’ on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a horizontal pinback; measuring 37.88 mm in diameter; weighing 21.0 grams. Accompanied by its original packet of issue; the obverse with “Deutsche Bronzene Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern” printed in black lettering; the reverse was stamped “Preussische Staatsmünze, Berlin”, but then redacted and substituted with “Hauptmünzamt Wien III”; measuring 59 mm (w) x 108 mm; in virtually mint condition.
