Germany. A Mint Cased Order of the German Eagle, Fifth Grade, by Godet & Co.
(Deutscher Adlerorden V. Stufe). Multi-piece construction; consisting of a Maltese cross in gilt silver and white enameled arms, with four national eagles “Hoheitszeichen” between the arms of the cross; on a loop for suspension; on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with a horizontal pinback - marked “900” for silver content, and “21” for “Gebrüder Godet & Co., Berlin”; measuring 44.95 mm (w) x 45.07 mm (h); weighing 22.3 grams. Accompanied by by its presentation case of issue; constructed of heavy cardstock, with a red lightly textured faux leather (leatherette) exterior; the exterior of the lid embossed with a gilt national eagle, featuring a lined interior liner, inscribed “Deutscher Adlerorden V. Klass” in gold lettering, with a recessed medal bed, intact interior fabric hinge cover, along with a functional clasp closure and exterior metal hinge; measuring 71 mm (w) x 124 mm (h); in overall virtually mint condition.
