What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Third Reich. A German Eagle Order, V Class with Swords and Case, Type I by Deschler & Sohn

(Deutscher Adler Orden, V. Klasse mit Schwertern und Etui). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1943-1945 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms joined at the quadrants by finely-detailed NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching a wreathed mobile swastikas, the obverse overlaid across the three and nine o’clock arm with crossed swords, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original ribbon, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by Deschler & Sohn, Munich, measuring 44.16 mm (w) x 44.37 mm (h), weighing 29.6 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former bearing an inscription of “ORDEN VOM DEUTSCHEN ADLER, VERDIENSTKREUZ 3. STUFE”, with a slotted and depressed black velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 90 mm (w) x 132 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), the cross has lost most of its gilt finish and the ribbon’s pinback is included but separated, in addition to minor material fatigue to the structure of the case, an excellent example of a Deschler award in near extremely fine condition.
