Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle, Bronze Medal of Merit
(Deutsche Verdienstmedaille in Bronze). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1937-1945). Constructed of bronze zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a raised depiction of the Order of the German Eagle, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “DEUTSCHE VERDIENST MEDAILLE” (“GERMAN MERIT MEDAL”), marked "30" ON THE RING (Vienna mint), measuring 38.56 mm in diameter, weighing 18.4 grams (inclusive of ribbon), most of the bronze finish has been lost, in overall fine condition.
