Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle, Bronze Merit Medal
(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler; Bronzene Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 1 May 1937. A circular medal constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a Maltese cross with a left-facing national eagle with outspread wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons between each arm, the reverse bears the inscription “Deutsche Verdienst- Medaille”, measuring 38.05 mm (w) x 43.30 mm (h), with suspension ring on a red ribbon with white and black stripes, very fine.
