Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle Cross on Breast Ribbon with Swords
(Orden vom Deutschen Adler Verdienstkreuz III. Stufe mit Schwertern). Instituted on 1 May 1937 by A.H. (Issued 1937-1945). Of multi-piece construction, composed of a Maltese cross in silver gilt with white enameled arms, along with four German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas between the arms of the cross, with crossed swords superimposed over the centre, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 44.82 mm (w) x 46.91 mm (h), weighing 25.8 grams, minor flecking of the enamels but in extremely fine condition.
