Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle, Grand Cross Badge, by Gebrüder Godet
(Orden vom Deutschen Adler, Großkreuz). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1939-1943 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, the quadrants of the cross joined by finely-detailed gilt German national eagle clutching mobile swastikas on white enameled backgrounds, the twelve o’clock arm with a ribbed fan bearing an integral loop and suspension ring, connecting to its period original sash ribbon with a functional magnetic metal spring clip, the suspension loop marked with a silver content number of “900”, measuring 60.20 mm (w) x 66.68 mm (h), weighing 38.7 grams, scratching and flecking of the enamels is evident and the central enamel of both the obverse and reverse has been repaired, otherwise in better than very fine condition.
