Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle, II Class Breast Star, by Gebrüder Godet
(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, II. Klasse Bruststern). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1943-1945 issue). An extremely well-preserved II Class Breast Star of the Order of the German Eagle, constructed of silver with enamels, consisting of a six-pointed radiant star, the obverse overlaid by a white enameled Maltese Cross, with the quadrants joined by finely-detailed NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse applique in place, with a barrel hinge and narrow banjo-style pinback meeting a rounded catch, the pinback maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “21” for Gebrüder Godet & Co., Berlin, with a silver content number of “900”, measuring 65.48 mm (w) x 75.25 mm (h), weighing 52.2 grams, with the exception of minor flecking of the enamels the decoration is in an extremely fine condition.
