Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle, II Class Breast Star, by Gebrüder Godet
(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Bruststern II. Klasse). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1943-1945 issue). Constructed of silver with enamels, the obverse consisting of a six-pointed radiant star, overlaid by a central white enameled Maltese Cross with its arms joined through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled backgrounds, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse applique in place, with a raised barrel hinge and narrow banjo-style pinback meeting a round catch, the pinback maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “21” for Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, and with a silver content number of “900”, the enamel demonstrates some flecking and scratching with evident of possible re-enameling, in near extremely fine condition.
