(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Verdienstkreuz mit Bruststern und Etui). An order of the German Eagle, II Class set, consisting of:

1. A neck cross, constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms joined together through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a ribbed fan suspension with an integral loop connecting to a ring, the latter retaining a period original full length of neck ribbon, the integral loop stamped with a silver content number of “900”, otherwise unmarked but demonstrating the physical characteristics of manufacture by Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 49.25 mm (w) x 57.80 mm (h), weighing 26.3 grams, demonstrating minor flecking and loss of finish to the enamels and silver base, respectively, in extremely fine condition.

2. A breast star, constructed of silver with gilt and enamels, the obverse consisting of a six-pointed radiant star, overlaid by a central white enameled Maltese Cross with its arms joined through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse applique in place, with a raised barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, the pinback stamped with a silver content number of “900”, otherwise unmarked but demonstrating the physical characteristics of manufacture by Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 65.24 mm (w) x 75.15 mm (h), weighing 45.8 grams, demonstrating minor flecking and tarnishing to the enamels and silver base, respectively, in extremely fine condition.

3. An original presentation case, constructed of a heavy wooden frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilded and embossed NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former bearing a gilt inscription of “ORDEN VOM DEUTSCHEN ADLER, VERDIENSTKREUZ MIT STERN”, with a depressed and slotted black velvet medal bed, closing with a functional snap button, unmaked, measuring 16 cm (w) x 24 cm (l) x 3.5 cm (h), the lid insert has detached from the frame and minor surface fatigue is visible elsewhere, in very fine condition.
