Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle, II Class Star, by Gebrüder Godet
(Orden vom Deutschen Adler Verdienstkreuz, II. Stufe). Instituted on 1.5.1937. (Issued 1937-1945). Of multi-piece construction, composed of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, on a silver six-pointed star, along with four German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas between the arms of the cross, the reverse with a barrel hinge and narrow banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, pinback marked with silver content of “900” and code “21” for Gebrüder Godet & Co., Berlin, measuring 65.74 mm (w) x 75.97 mm (h), weighing 50.8 grams, minor flecking of enamels and loosening of the cross, but otherwise in near extremely fine condition.
