Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle, Silver Merit Medal, by the Prussian State Mint
(Deutsche Verdienstmedaille in Silber). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1937-1943). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised depiction of the Order of the German Eagle, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “DEUTSCHE VERDIENST-MEDAILLE” (“GERMAN MERIT MEDAL”) in Fraktur script, the edge maker marked “PR. MÜNZE BERLIN” for the Prussian State Mint in Berlin, with a silver content number of “835” and a crescent moon indicating German manufacture, measuring 38.04 mm in diameter, weighing 20.6 grams, some tarnishing evident, in overall better than very fine condition.
