Germany, Third Reich. A Medal for Rescue from Danger, with Case, by the Prussian Mint
(Medaille für Rettung aus Gefahr mit Etui). Constructed of silver, the obverse bearing a raised German national eagle overlaid by a central mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR RETTUNG AUS GEFAHR” (“FOR RESCUE FROM DANGER”) within a circular oak leaf wreath, the edge maker marked “PR. MÜNZE BERLIN” for the Prussian Mint in Berlin, with a silver content number of 835”, and a crescent moon indicating German manufacture, measuring 49.82 mm in diameter, weighing 55.2 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted light blue felt medal bed, opening with a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 70 mm (w) x 70 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), with minor material fatigue evident to the case, in overall extremely fine condition.
