Germany, Third Reich. A Cased Gold Grade Cross of Honour of the German Mother by Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid
                (Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter 1. Stufe in Gold mit Etui). This is an extremely well-preserved Third Reich Cross of Honour of the German Mother (Mutterkreuz) complete with its original box, the set features a large Latin cross with concave arms constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, in the centre of which sits a swastika surrounded by the inscription “Der Deutschen Mutter” (The German Mother) over stylized sun rays emanating from the background, complete with blue and white striped loop for suspension from the neck, measuring 50 mm (h) x 45 mm (w), accompanied by matching boutonniere consisting of an identical miniature version of the Gold Grade Mutterkreuz, with a ribbon tied into a bow, and attached to a horizontal pinback, measuring 37 mm (w) x 21 mm (h), the case is constructed of cardstock with blue textured faux leather lining, in the middle sits a gold painted Mutterkreuz, slotted medal bed allowing cross to sit flush with bottom, intact interior fabric hinge material covering functional metal hinge, functional spring-loaded button for opening and closing case, maker marked “Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid” on lid interior, some soiling of the boutonniere and scratching to the exterior of the case, otherwise presenting in overall extremely fine condition.
