Germany, Third Reich. A Cased Honour Cross of the German Mother, Bronze Grade, by Werner Redo
(Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter in Bronze). Constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, sun rays emanating between the arms of a Latin Cross from the centre applique, central medallion depicting a black enameled swastika ringed by a raised inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“The German Mother”), on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, reverse inscribed with institution date of “16 Dezember 1938” and facsimile of the Führer and Reichskanzler, unmarked, measuring 35 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of card stock with a faux black leather exterior, with a white satin-type lid liner, slotted white felt medal bed, functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release, functional magnetic metal hinge, lid liner maker marked “Werner Redo, Saarlautern”, measuring 48 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) x 18 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
