Germany, Third Reich. A Cased Honour Cross of the German Mother, Gold Grade, by Carl Poellath
(Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter in Gold). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, sun rays emanating between the arms of a Latin Cross from the centre applique, central medallion depicting a black enameled swastika ringed by a raised inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“THE GERMAN MOTHER”), on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, reverse inscribed with institution date of “16. Dezember 1938” and facsimile of the Führer and Reichskanzler, unmarked, measuring 35 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), accompanied by its period original case, constructed of cardstock with a faux blue leather exterior liner, image of the Honour Cross embossed in gold on the lid, with a white satin-type interior lid liner, intact hinger cover, depressed medal bed, functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release, functional magnetic metal hinge, maker marked on lid liner “Carl Poellath, Schrobenhausen”, measuring 50 mm (w) x 110 mm (h), in very fine condition.
