Germany, Third Reich. A Cased Honour Cross of the German Mother, Gold Grade, by Gustav Miksch
(Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Latin Cross, the obverse with blue and white enameled arms, with a central black mobile swastika circumscribed by a raised inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“TO THE GERMAN MOTHER”), with sun rays through the quadrants, the reverse with an etched institution date of “16. DEZEMBER 1938” and a facsimile of the Führer, unmarked, measuring 36 mm (w) x 47 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux black leather exterior, the exterior lid with a gold embossed depiction of the award, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed white doeskin medal bed, opening with a functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional magnetic metal hinge, the lid liner maker marked “G. MIKSCH, GABLONZ”, measuring 50 mm (w) x 110 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.
